Abstract: The aim of this project is to determine cytogenetic effects of microplastics of different polymer types on Salmonidae fish and raise young researcher’s skills in interdisciplinary research at the same time. Activities – assessment of polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene (HDPE, LDPE) genotoxic and cytotoxic effects on Oncorhynchus mykiss blood erythrocytes.

Intended outcome: Young researcher will gain experience in the fields of ecology and environmental sciences which includes planning, execution and coordination of ecotoxicological experiments; will learn methods used to assess genotoxic and cytotoxic effects of xenobiotics; will familiarize with collection of ecotoxicological data and will grasp the application of statistical methods for legitimate data analysis. This way student will be able to independently carry out statistical data analysis and interpretation of results. Young researcher will acquire practical knowledge and experience in preparation of scientific presentations as well as high-level scientific publications.
