We are looking for a candidate who would like to contribute his/her extensive practical experience in the field of phytopathology.

Job description

The duties of Senior Researcher involves research with the task of investigating the diversity and dynamics of phytopathogens under changing climatic and anthropogenic impact, and selecting preventive and control measures to reduce the damage caused by these microorganisms: detection and identification of microorganisms by morphological, biochemical and molecular studies, interspecies and intraspecies genetic and genomic diversity studies; preparation of research project proposals, implementation of projects, publication of research results in international and other scientific journals, participation in international scientific conferences, dissemination of research results.

Strengths of the candidate: experience in applied and fundamental research on the diversity of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi) in the laboratory, familiarity with state-of-the-art bioinformatics applications for genomic and/or metagenomic studies of microbiomes.

Salaries are determined in accordance with the Law on Science and Studies of the Republic of Lithuania. The salary coefficient ranges from 9,82 to 15,75.

Requirements for applicants:

The position of Senior Researcher is open to scientists who meet the requirements for a recognised researcher set out in point 8 of the Description of the mandatory competences (https://gamtostyrimai.lt/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/LMT_Tyreju-kompetenciju-aprasas.docx) for the career stages of researchers at science and study institutions approved by Order No V-352 of the Chairman of the Lithuanian Research Council of 29 June 2023 and the requirements for a senior researcher set out in point 5.2 of the Description of the Qualification Requirements for the Position of Senior Researcher of the Natural Research Centre of the State Research Institute of the Lithuanian Research Council. In assessing the applicants, the equivalents of the applicants’ assessed work shall be applied in accordance with the procedure laid down in points 7 to 9 of the Qualification Requirements for Researchers at the Natural Research Centre (https://gamtostyrimai.lt/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Kvalifikaciniu-reikalavimu-apraso.pdf).
