Research theme: Investigation of the impact of newly developed and environmental materials at the nano- and microscale to aquatic organisms of different trophic levels and development stages

Short description:

The aim of the research:

To investigate the ecotoxicological potential of nanoparticles (NPs) using aquatic organisms at different trophic levels and development stages; to find out the possible impact mechanisms of the NPs in organisms; to evaluate the possibility to remove the NPs from the water using nanocomposites in the context of climate change.

Objectives of the research:

  1. To determine physico-chemical properties of NPs depending on environmental factors (temperature and pH) and time.
  2. To evaluate the effect of NPs to the physiological, behavioural and biochemical parameters of aquatic organisms depending on evironmental factors (temperature and pH).
  3. To examine the nature of the NPs accumulation and fate in organisms depending on physico-chemical properties of NPs and environmental factors.  
  4. To compare the impact of newly developed and environmental materials at the nano- and microscale to aquatic organisms at different trophic levels and development stages in the context of climate change (empirical model).
  5. To evaluate the possibilities of sorbents-nanocomposites to remove metals receiving into the water from NPs.
