Laboratory of Plant Physiology


The mechanism of molecular action of phytohormone (indolil-3-acetic acid – IAA or auxin) and its role in the realization of genetic information during the processes of plant growth and morphogenesis is investigated. Applying biochemical-molecular methods, analysis of IAA content is conducted, investigating the chemical composition, transport and metabolism of its fund. Investigations into the mechanisms of signal reception, transmission and realization are also carried out, as well as studies of the Earth gravity influence upon plant growth and spatial orientation is carried out. The possibility to apply the original auxin-type phytohormones for purposeful regulation of growth, morphogenesis and crop formation is studied. Intracellular processes predetermining plant resistance to low temperatures and wintering as well as possibilities of winter hardening are also analysed.
