Laboratory of Entomology
Head: dr. RASA BERNOTIENĖ
The main research trends are biosystematics of existing and fossil insects, their morphology, ecology, phenology, zoogeography, systematics and phylogeny; trophic links of separate insect species, composition of entomofauna and its variability in different ecosystems under different climatic and habitat conditions. Based on the structure of entomocomplexes and indicatory features of insect groups or species, the most valuable territories in Lithuania are identified. The main focus is placed upon Palearctic moths, Diptera, Coleoptera, Odomata and Collembola insects, the stages of their development and peculiarities of protected insect species and their habitats. About 150 insect taxa new for science have been described.
