Laboratory of Geoenvironmental research
Head: dr. KĘSTUTIS JOKŠAS
Main research strengths: investigations of the interactions between the natural and anthropogenic processes and evaluation of the quality of the geological environment.
Much attention is paid to assessment of the geodynamic state of the Lithuanian coast, interpretation of coast formation processes and the evaluation of sedimentation and geodynamic processes in the context of the subsiding south-east Baltic. Geochemical anomalies and their sources are identified and evaluated from the ecogeochemical and geohygienic points of view and the impacts of natural and anthropogenic factors on the background and anomalous concentrations of chemicals are established and forecasted. Geochemical and biogeochemical research methods for abiotic and biotic components of the environment are developed and applied.
