Research areas:

My research is focusing on a taxonomic and systematic revision, phylogenetic reconstruction and morphological evolution in crane flies (Insecta, Diptera, Tipulidae), a diverse insect group of nearly 16, 000 species found in all zoogeographic regions. My current taxonomic expertise is subgenus Tipula (Vestiplex) Bezzi,1924, a phylogenetically young group of crane flies which includes 181 extant species which are distributed throughout the Nearctic, Palaearctic and Oriental Regions. The species diversity hotspot of this remarkable and extremely polymorphic group is located in Himalaya and Tibetan Plateau, a remote part of Earth with numerous species, still waiting to be described.
