Dr. Carolina Chagas and her PhD student, German Liberato, visited a colleague in the Lincoln University

In March, dr. Carolina Chagas and her PhD student, German Liberato, visited a colleague in the Lincoln University. They have a join project funded by The Royal Society which is focused on the investigation of Lankesterella avian blood parasites. This project aims to determine prevalence, genetic diversity and host-specificity of Lankesterella parasites in different passerine species in the UK and in Lithuania. During the visit, they discussed available results and planned the next steps for this project.

Dr. Carolina Chagas „We have promising results, and potentially new parasites species to be described. Hopefully, this project will contribute to bring more attention to this neglected avian parasite.”
