EPIC-Bee training at NRC

From 23 to 27 March, the State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre (NRC) hosted a training session for representatives from the Nordic and Baltic countries of the European Union as part of the EPIC-Bee project funded by the European Commission, aimed at teaching participants how to identify wild bee species. During the training, five experts from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden gave presentations on all wild bee colonies and genera found in Northern Europe, the characteristics used to identify bee species, and how to recognize most of the bee species found in the region. Participants learned to identify bee species by using reference collections provided by NRC and those brought by colleagues from abroad.

At the end of the training, participants took a test in which they had to identify 30 wild bees.
