Invitation to the event “Biodiversity Data for Research, Collaboration and Impact”

The State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre invites researchers, lecturers, students and anyone who compiles, handles or uses biodiversity data to take part in the event “Biodiversity Data for Research, Collaboration and Impact” to be held on 19 October from 9:00 am at the Conference Hall of the National Visitors’ Centre of the State Service for Protected Areas  (Antakalnio St. 25).

During the event, representatives of international biodiversity infrastructures will present GBIF and the Catalogue of Life, discuss the benefits these systems offer to researchers and institutions, the links between national species lists and global data infrastructures, and the untapped potential in Lithuania. New ways of utilising biodiversity data will also be demonstrated, including the B-Qube platform.

Researchers from Lithuania and abroad will share their experience of publishing biodiversity data via GBIF and discuss the benefits that open data brings to scientific research, international collaboration and the public.

The event is being organised as part of the project “Biodiversity data capacity building in Lithuania” („Gebėjimų stiprinimas biologinės įvairovės duomenų srityje Lietuvoje“) carried out by the State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre,  Vilnius University, Kaunas Tadas Ivanauskas Zoological Museum and Swedish Museum of Natural History.

We warmly invite you to take part and make the most of this opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the management, publication and use of biodiversity data.
