Baltica

BALTICA is an international periodical peer-reviewed journal on various Earth sciences issues (geology, physical geography, palaeontology, oceanology). The papers from different countries are accepted, but the Baltic region and the Baltic Sea problems are the priorities of the journal. This edition as a Yearbook was established in 1961 by initiative of Academician Vytautas Gudelis. Since 1993 until 2018, an Editor-in-Chief of the journal was Academician Algimantas Grigelis. The rapid development of scientific knowledge about the Earth, the Baltic States and the Baltic Sea predestined that in 2004 the Yearbook has been transformed into a journal. The particular emphasis is given to Quaternary geology, climate changes and development of ecosystems, palaeogeography, environmental geology, as well as stratigraphy, tectonics, sedimentology and surface processes with relevance to the geological history of the Baltic Sea and land areas. Journal emphasizes modern techniques, methodology and standards. The current journal structure comprises original research articles, short reviews, information, and bibliography. BALTICA is published biannually (in June and December), the journal and the individual articles are marked with the ©Baltica Copyright.

In 2008, the edition was ranked in ISI Thomson Reuters Web on Science list; in 2013, the journal got Cite Factor (Academic Scientific Journals) index (Key Factor 26); since 2012 published papers are registered by DOI (Digital Object Identifier) code system, prefix is 10/5200; since 2010 is taking part in the iThenticate (CrossCheck) programme; in 2014 became a member of CrossRef Association.
