Scientific visit to the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences

On 8–10October, NRC paleontologist Dr Darja Dankina visited the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences.

Together with local colleagues paleontologists, Darja scanned two extremely unique fish fossils from the Devonian period, stored in the NRC paleontological archive, and performed tomographic examinations on them.

These investigations revealed incredible body fragments “hidden beneath the rocks.”

Based on the results of the analysis, 3D models will be created and presented at a paleontological conference in 2026. A scientific article on this topic is also being prepared.

We wish Darja success in her future scientific discoveries!
