Secrets of fossils revealed at Nature Research Centre

On Friday, 17 January, the Nature Research Centre was attended by Maja, a 12th grade student, fossil collector and enthusiast. She visited the NRC’s palaeontological collection, which includes fauna and flora that once lived in Lithuania and beyond. The student brought some of her collected material, which was taxonomically identified by NRC palaeontologist Dr. Darja Dankina from the Laboratory of Bedrock Geology. The fossils included interesting fragments of vertebrate remains from the Early Triassic (~251-249 million years old), including vertebrae and bones. These fossils are shown in the photos.
