I am working on  small mammals’ parasites. I perform dissections on the internal organs of small mammals such as voles, shrews and others.
The aim of this PhD project is to determine whether or not helminth parasites are present. If parasites are found, they are collected and then analysed by PCR to confirm the species.
Subsequently, there will be work on the faeces of ungulates (roe deer, red deer, moose, etc.) and carnivores (foxes, wolves, raccoon dogs, etc.). Through microscopic analysis, the aim will be to determine the species of parasite eggs present.
These determinations will be linked to the type of habitat where the sample was taken and the period during which it was taken.
