Dr. Dalia Grendaitė participated in the 5th International Workshop on High Resolution Water Quality Monitoring and Analysis

The 5th International Workshop on High Resolution Water Quality Monitoring and Analysis took place at the James Hutton Institute in Aberdeen, United Kingdom, on 17-19 June 2024. NRC researcher Dr. D. Grendaitė delivered an oral presentation “Optical Remote Sensing and Machine Learning for Monitoring Algal Blooms in Inland Waters” (authors Dr. D. Grendaitė and Dr. E. Stonevičius). The conference proceedings will be published in a book of abstracts.

The 5th workshop (Water quality in international spotlight at Hutton event – James Hutton Institute) was attended by scientists and other water professionals from 17 countries and covered a wide range of topics, including the latest technologies in sensors for measuring water quality parameters, the importance of metadata, and the progress in data processing and process characterisation. The workshop included a visit to the Easter Beltie River restoration site, where the natural course of the river was restored and various ecosystem observations are being made. Also, the Glensaugh Uplands Livestock Farm was visited, which is engaged in testing nature-based solutions such as logjams and riparian planting for flood control, as well as weekly hydrological measurements with a 30-year track record.
