  It is with great sadness that we announce that Prof. Vytautas Rančelis passed away on 13 January 2021, aged 82. Prof. Vytautas Rančelis was a famous Lithuanian scientist, a renounced plant geneticist.

COVID-19 Commission of Lithuanian Academy of Sciences about the pandemic and its control

The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences' commission for assessment, interpretation and dissemination of the newest information about COVID-19 in conjunction with a group of invited scientists prepared an article on the sources, ways and trends of distribution of coronavirus infection, as well as on public attitudes and possible methods and measures to control the pandemic. A particular attention is devoted to a newly emerged possibility – vaccination, including complicated vaccine development processes, vaccine safety and effectiveness.
