Research area: how pesticides affect carabid beetles’ capability to balance macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids) and their biological control potential by employing nutritional geometry framework principles.

Annotation of the dissertation

The aim of the study is to evaluate how pesticides affect carabid beetles’ capability to balance macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein, lipid) and their biological control potential by employing nutritional geometry framework principles.
Research objects:
1. To assess pesticide effect on carabids’ locomotor activity and ability to balance macronutrients;
2. To evaluate macronutrient balanced vs. imbalanced beetles’ susceptibility to pesticide treatment;
3. To determine if pesticides affect carabids’ selection for macronutrients when served with natural foods differing in macronutritional composition.
