The study on Campylopus introflexus distribution in disturbed peatlands of Lithuaniarevealed that Radiola linoides (Red Data Book of Lithuania, 3rd (R) category) was growing in the same habitats as the invasive moss species. No significant correlation was determined between the abundance of Radiola linoides and percent cover of Campylopus introflexus. Individuals of Radiola linoides were recorded growing on the carpets of Campylopus introflexus as well as on bare peat. Significantly negative correlation was observed between the abundance of Radiola linoides and percent cover of native moss Polytrichum strictum.

The paper lists 137 species of lichens from the Kobbefjord area in West Greenland. Of these, 125 species were recorded for the first time. The lichen vegetation forms mosaics of epiphytic species, snow patch species and species occurring in different types of dwarf shrub heaths and on rocks. The saxicolous lichen flora varies from a fairly moist to a dry, wind-exposed type. Nitrophilous lichens occur more or less scattered at the locality.

A total of 267 species and two subspecies of the lichen-forming and lichenicolous fungi from Gomel Region (Republic of Belarus) are listed. Of these, seven lichen species and two lichenicolous fungi are indicated as new to the Region. Acarospora moenium is a new lichen species to Belarus. There are 14 species included in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Belarus.

Keywords: lichens, checklist, biodiversity, Gomel, Belarus.

The paper deals with rare in Europe freshwater algae species Thorea hispida (Thore) Desvaux 1818 recorded for the first time in Lithuania. Red algae were investigated in the river Šešuvis, the south-western part of Lithuania (Tauragė district) in 2009–2011. T. hispida grew attached to markedly heterogenous submerged substrata: stones, gravel, tree branches and artificial substrata. T. hispida assemblages were associated with macroalgae Cladophora glomerata (L.) Kütz., Vaucheria sessilis (Vaucher) DC and several hydrophytes species, Potamogeton pectinatus L., P. perfoliatus L., Fontinalis antipyretica Hedw., Amblystegium riparium (Hedw.) Brunch et Schimp. Environmental factors related to water quality were not the most important pressures influencing species population development, although the lower water temperature (9.43–12.30(–19.50) ºC) and higher conductivity (530.0–568.0 µS cm-1) values were not appropriate for typical habitats. The lower Thorea hispida population seems to be determined mainly by the increase of the river Šešuvis water level caused by frequent floods during the second year of observations. This paper provides information on the morphology of T. hispida and illustrations of the most important morphological features.

Keywords: Thorea hispida, freshwater red algae, the river Šešuvis, Lithuania.

A total of 179 species of lichens, seven lichenicolous and five non-lichenized saprobic fungi were identified in Braslav Lakes National Park. Four lichenized (Bactrospora dryina, Placynthium nigrum, Sarcosagium campestre, Sclerophora pallida) and two lichenicolous fungi (Illosporiopsis christiansenii and Marchandiomyces aurantiacus) were reported for the first time in Belarus.

Keywords: lichens, lichenicolous fungi, protected areas, Belarus.

Unusual vegetatively propagating individual of Lobelia dortmanna L. was found in summer 2009 during the studies of the plant population in Lake Salinis (Lithuania). The young vegetative plant consisting of two leaves and abundant roots was located on old inflorescence stem at a distance of 2.5 cm above the base. No other reports about the same or similar mode of vegetative propagation are known for this species.

Keywords: vegetative propagation, submerged plants, isoetid, Lobelia dortmanna, Lake Salinis.
