There are 155 species of bryophytes in Lithuania known only from less than 10 localities, populations of some more widely distributed species are evidently decreasing. Only 11 bryophyte species have been included in the latest Red Data Book of Lithuania. In this paper a new preliminary Red list of bryophytes of Lithuania is presented. Rare and threatened species are divided according to IUCN (1976) threat categories.

204 species of lichenized, lischenicolous and resinicolous fungi were collected in 7 military forestries. They are listed alphabetically, every species supplied with the following data: substrate, number of localities where the species were collected and localities themselves. If the TLC is performed, determined substances are given. 35 species appeared to be new to Lithuania. Analysis of different ecological groups – terricolous, corticolous, lignicolous and saxicolous is attempted. Lichens inhabiting spruce roots and submerged alder roots are distinguished. Some interesting chemical strains of lichens are noted.

The present paper deals with aquatic fungi collected in 1994–1995 from the freshwater and marine habitats of Pabradė, Rūdninkai, Gaižiūnai, Rukla, Kazlų Rūda, Kairiai, Nemirseta former military forestries. Totally 76 species belonging to 6 classes are listed and 4 specimens are determined to genus only. 27 species are new to the Lithuania mycobiota. Influence of different ecological factors on the species diversity and distribution is discussed. Diversity of aquatic mycobiota in various military forestries depends mainly on the water basin type and substrates.

Accumulation of heavy – arsenium, cadmium, chromium, nickel and lead in twenty species of macromycetes collected in the former Soviet military forestries in Lithuania was investigated. Biosorbtional capacity of macromycetes species (according to concentration) for metals in general and separate metal was evaluated. Dominant metals in the macromycetes of the former military forestries were determined. Bioconcentration factor determined. Comparative analysis o fungi and some forest plant (mosses, heaths, bilberries) biosorbtional capacity was carried out.

Investigations on micromycetes in the former Soviet military forestries were carried out in June and September of 1994–1995. About 1200 herbarium specimens were collected and 319 micromycetes species belonging to all taxonomic groups of Eumycota (Mastigomycotina, Ascomycotina, Basidiomycotina, Deuteromycotina) were revealed. Most of the identified fungi are parasites of herbaceous and woody plants. They were found on 240 host plant species of 52 families. In this paper distribution of micromycetes genera and families in various military groups is presented and their distribution in different families of host plants, as well as spreading of more important species I the investigated territories is provided.

Polystichum aculeatum was supposed to be extinct in Lithuania, because since nineteenth century it was not found in the territory. In 1996 this species was found in pine forest near Druskininkai (Varėna district, Raigardas landscape reserve).

The new locality of Tolypella prolifera (A. Br.) Leonh. In Lithuania is described. This earlier thought extinct species was found in a pond in Pabijočiai (Šiauliai district) village. Five fertile individuals were found. In the habitat Elodea canadensis, Potamogeton berchtoldii, Chara vulgaris, C. fragilis, Nitella syncarpa grew abundantly and Potamogeton natans, Utricularia minor, Alisma plantago-aquatica, Eleocharis palustris, Hippuris vulgaris, Veronica beccabunga were presented by single individuals. In the only earlier known locality (Lake Žuvintas, Alytus district) this species is not found since 1981.
